Santander committed to doing “everything we can” to assist customers caught in hurricanes

Hurricanes, wildfires, floods.

Michael and Florence are just the latest examples of billion-dollar disasters affecting millions of Americans along the Gulf and Atlantic coasts late this year with roaring high winds, rain and flooding.

It is impossible to view the scenes of devastation and not feel the need to help in some way.

“So many lives have been changed forever,” said Gov. Rick Scott of Florida, one of the states hit hardest by Hurricane Michael. “So many families have lost everything.”

We at Santander Consumer USA (SC) know that Michael and Florence have had catastrophic effects on many of the communities where we do business and that customers might be affected by these storms. For tens of thousands, that impact includes the vehicles they drive.

“We are heartbroken by these recent events [Michael and Florence] and are doing everything we can to assist during this difficult time,” said a recent SC communications.

“First and foremost, your safety and your family’s safety are our primary concern, so we hope you and your loved ones are out of harm’s way … We understand that disasters of this magnitude interrupt every aspect of your life,” said the SC communication, which was sent by email to customers in affected areas.

Because of those disruptions, SC is “committed to doing everything we can to help our customers in their time of need … and are prepared to assist you,” said SC in a separate message, noting that “we have programs in place to help customers experience difficulty due to [the hurricanes].”

Similar programs were employed for victims of the Western wildfires this past summer.
